We provide archaeological consulting services to both the government and the private sector in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for the protection and preservation of our nation's cultural resources. Our staff is experienced in all phases of cultural resource management including pedestrian survey, sampling and test excavation, and mitigative data recovery projects.
Survey (Phase I)
From literature reviews and management plans (Class I) to selective or random-sampling surveys (Class II) to 100% coverage pedestrian field surveys (Class III), we are permitted and equipped to handle most Phase I archaeological survey projects in southwestern Colorado. Our staff has thorough experience with Phase I projects in Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico.
Test Excavation (Phase II)
To further determine the significance of cultural resources, we are equipped to conduct sampling or test excavations when necessary. We can develop a testing plan based on simple or stratified random sampling, as appropriate for a given study area. We also have experience with monitoring construction or other surface-invasive activities for archaeological remains, with on-site assessments of potential impacts. Our staff has worked on Phase II testing and monitoring projects in Colorado, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico.
Data Recovery (Phase III)
We are also equipped to handle small-scale Phase III data recovery excavations. We have conducted research-based excavations of sites and features in the Four Corners area, as well as mitigative data recovery projects and salvage archaeology in cases where there has been extensive damage or is impending threat to cultural resources. Our staff has completed Phase III projects in Colorado, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico.
